It Takes Courage to Also Be The Grain of Dissonance, To Subtly Know and Live Aligned Nuances As Your Core Truth.

"This is a nuanced conversation, but dissonance has been such an incredible teacher. Honouring and naming dissonance takes courage. It takes courage not to call things or people “bad” just because they aren’t right for us, our unique paths, or our energy.
It takes courage to not demonize and slander dissonant feelings, places, people, and situations. It takes courage to not enmesh.
It takes courage to withdraw energy. It takes courage to be willing to be misheard, misunderstood, misquoted, misrecognized.
It takes courage to guard your life’s work and life force flow from further misalignment."
Who is The Story Doula"I am an artist, entrepreneur, and brand strategist who is wholly obsessed with helping creatives get their stories out in the most self-kind ways possible. I have spent the last eight years in the world of social media, digital marketing, and branding as a writer, designer, and content creator; and the last six years serving creative communities in the roles of Creative Director, Marketing Director, and Brand Strategist. My work as a storyteller has lead me into the classrooms of vibrant young people as well as into conferences, university classrooms, and the learning spaces of men’s penitentiaries. I’ve shared in coffee shops, museums, and stages. I’ve worked with healers, activists, circus artists, theatre professionals, visual artists, and poets to help them speak wildly specific truths to their communities and inspire wonder in the online space. I believe that a great part of my soul’s purpose is to expose beauty in all of its messy and articulate forms by creating spaces for creatives to breathe in their processes. I believe I am here for shamelessness and I believe that you are, too. Profound beauty is found in the tension. Daje James makes it her goal to seek it out and expose it. As a brand strategist, author, artist, and story doula, her work is to make space for artists to breathe in their process. She feels guided by the universe and the spirits of her ancestors to stand in this work, challenge systems, and build around the fires of the collective creative process. She feels guided to write about it, ponder it, and call souls back to stand around these fires together and be heard.
